Before I walked into West U Fit, my typical workout consisted of trying something “new and exciting”, getting bored with it, quitting, taking a year or so off, and then starting the cycle all over again. I have been at West U Fit for eighteen months now, and I am anything but bored! I have never done any kind of workout that compares to the one I get with Ben Guidry. It is focused, efficient and incredibly effective. In thirty minutes I get a fantastic workout, and no two days are the same.

Ben believed in me from the first day I walked into the gym, and through his expertise I have truly transformed my body. I have friends who say they don’t need to or want to invest in a personal trainer, but then spend twice the time at other gyms and achieve half the result. At the age of 44, I can honestly say I am in the best physical shape of my life, and it would not have been possible without Ben.

The fact is there is no price tag that you can assign to feeling positive about yourself, or the way it makes you feel when you receive a fantastic compliment, or having your daughter tell you she wants to be “as strong as you when she’s a mom”. Thank-you West U Fit, and thank you Ben -- I am truly grateful!

Thank you for providing a safe and protected environment for those of us working to reclaim our bodies and out lives. Brian is a blessing in my life and it pleases me that he has chosen to work with your establishment. Brian has worked with me to strengthen my body, enhance my flexibility and stability. Treatment for breast cancer had impaired some of my range of motion and Brian has worked around my limitations and figured out alternative approaches that I can do. He has introduced me to muscles I had never met. I appreciate your care with maintaining a clean environment and welcoming atmosphere.

With the combined expertise of nutrition and fitness that West U Fitness offers, I have been able to lose 11 pounds in just 21 days. Their team of trainers has been very dedicated in helping me try and achieve my personal goals. Their attitude and legitimate concern about their client's health and overall well being is what makes West U Fitness unique and different from the mega gyms and other fitness clubs where you get lost in the shuffle. I am on my way to a healthier lifestyle and feeling better than ever, and it would not have been possible without the help of Brent and Cassie steering me in the right direction.

The West U Fitness "Results Nutrition" program takes out the stress of figuring out what to eat, I get to eat the foods I love, and I have enough to keep me energized throughout my busy day. After just a few weeks, I've already lost 8 pounds of fat while still indulging in my favorite sinful pleasure, ice cream.

Before I started training with Cassie I had never worked out with a trainer or with weights. Cassie taught me a lot about working out, nutrition, and she kept me motivated. After I got engaged Cassie and I talked about the areas I wanted to focus on for my wedding day-- my arms, shoulders, chest, back and abs. Cassie trained me twice a week and focused on strengthening and toning those areas. I was so impressed with our results, and Cassie's knowledge in getting me in shape. I saw results in the areas we focused on in just a few sessions! I felt healthy, stronger and more toned. No matter how busy I got before the wedding I always made time for my workouts with Cassie because they were so rewarding!

Recently I ran the Chicago Marathon and experienced two of the oddest events in my running life: 1) the race was cancelled while I was on the course though I completed the full 26.2 mile distance, and 2) I completed a marathon and had absolutely no stiffness in the days following the marathon. Yes, you read that correctly! I completed a marathon and had no stiffness in the days after the marathon. While the Chicago race director must be given the credit for canceling the race and I should get part of the credit for actually completing the race, the credit for completing a marathon with no stiffness in the days following the marathon must go to Ben Guidry and West U Fitness! We can discuss whether I should get partial credit for actually doing the exercises that Ben so kindly requests!

Chicago was my 8th run of marathon or greater distance (7 marathons and 1 ultra marathon), so I have some previous experience that can serve as comparison. For the previous 7 events, I had been stiff and had dreaded walking down steps in the days following the marathon. Not so, this time. I experienced a twinge of discomfort upon rising from the chair at our post-marathon celebration dinner, and then no discomfort in the days afterward.

What did I do differently for this marathon that I had not done before? I began working out at West U Fitness. Ben tailored workouts to improve my conditioning so that my body and my mind were strong. He created workouts that taxed and improved my fitness, but did not render me too sore or too tired to complete my training runs on the days after workouts. He made the workouts palatable and encouraged me when I felt like I may not have one more repetition in me or when my execution of the exercise was not quite correct.

Thanks, Ben and West U Fitness. I hope that my next marathon will be stiffness free and will be faster than my unspoken goal!

I did not know what Pilates was a year ago. I now workout at West U Fitness 3 times a week and I have never felt better. I am leaner, meaner and my nagging lower back issues are history.

As an avid gardener and "owner" of several large dogs, lower back pain has been a frequent unwelcome problem. My doctor and massage therapist have recommended Pilates to strengthen my core muscles, which they insist will help my back... well, they were RIGHT! After working at West U Fitness for several months, I have noticed a significant improvement... now if I can just get him to help with the garden or dogs!

Brent has done such a great job working with me on toning, strength training, recovering from foot surgery, a lining my body. West U Fitness is very close to my house, so I am able to ride my bike there each time I train. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who wishes to improve their bodies! And everyone there seems very motivated to work with people and make it as enjoyable as possible.

My whole life I have hated exercise mostly because I knew I had no aptitude for sports, and believed fitness was something that I couldn't learn. When I started, I could barely run 100 yards. Today, not only have I learned to run, but I actually enjoy it. It's not just that I've lost weight - I have a new appreciation for what I can accomplish.

I now see in the mirror the person who I've pictured in my mind - the woman I knew 7 years ago. But many of my friends never knew her, or if they did, they don't remember her. Knowing that I look better makes me feel so much better. I enjoy being able to go into any store and know they will probably have something in my size. No more avoiding shopping trips with "thin" friends. No more hiding in oversized clothes.

I've always had a confidence in my areas of strength, but now I have more confidence in my outlook on life. I don't feel like I'm invisible anymore. I've achieved something so huge and it gives me a new confidence as I look at things I never would have considered before. I even ran my first half marathon in October. From 100 yards to 13.1 miles - who knew I could accomplish that!

Not only have I learned what it means to experience a runner's high, my view of food has totally changed. I now know how great it feels to eat well - how food fuels my body rather than provides a stress relief or emotional comfort. I couldn't remember what it meant to feel strong -and I don't think I ever knew how great a eating for health could feel.

Cassie took on a huge challenge and responsibility when she took me as a client. She:

  • helped me learn how to exercise,
  • built my strength in a smart and patterned way so that my body could continuously take on new challenges without injury,
  • taught me new patterns of eating that provide continual fuel for my regimen,
  • helped me discover how great healthy eating can feel and what healthy eating truly means, and
  • she is a powerful encourager and cheerleader in those times that it gets incredibly difficult - believing in me when I'm not so sure of myself.
The process has been difficult. There were many times that the temptation to quit was so real. In the end, if it had been easy, the results wouldn't have such a powerful impact on my life. And, now as I graduate from being Cassie's remedial fitness student to taking on new and escalating challenges, she's right there with me - helping me accomplish each new goal.

Any of these sound familiar?

  • I never have enough time to work out
  • I'm eating well but not losing weight
  • I've been working out but it doesn't' seem to be helping
  • I've used a trainer before with OK results but stopped when I got bored of doing the same thing over and over
  • Trainers cost too much money

These were probably my top 5 gripes for trying to get in shape. If any of these sound familiar to you, read on.

In my mid to late 30's I had 2 kids (now 5 & 3). Between working full time and my kids, I had little time for myself. When I turned 40 (yikes!), I decided I needed to focus more time on taking care of myself. I read about Cassie at West U Fitness in a Bellaire news group from another of their satisfied clients and decided to try her.

Within a few workouts, Cassie broke all my workout gripes:

Never enough time to workout - Exactly why you need WUF. They specializes in 30-minute workouts so you maximize your workout while minimizing your time commitment. I'm eating well but not losing weight - Although I was eating healthy, WUF helped me identify changes to help me lose fat. With the West U Fit online nutrition tracker tool, their recommended eating program and constant counseling by Cassie, I am now losing fat and feeling great. I've been working out but it doesn't seem to be helping - It's amazing how little things make such a big difference. I thought I was doing all my exercising correctly, but Cassie, watching very closely, suggests minor adjustments that always seem to have major improvements in my workout and results.

I've used a trainer before with OK results but stopped when I got bored - I saw results the first day and continue to see results with every workout. Over 6 months, I have not had one duplicate workout. Cassie is a master at changing it up so you don't get bored and your muscles continue to be challenged. I once told Cassie, "After 6 months you would think that I would be finding these workouts easier but I'm not." Cassie replied, "I keep changing them and increasing the challenge. That's what you pay me for. If it got easier, you wouldn't be benefiting as much"

Trainers cost too much money - If you find the right trainer, it is worth every penny you spend! Review points 1 through 4 again and you'll know why it's worth every penny. Bottom line - Cassie is a great trainer! Maximize your time and money and try out West U Fit today!

When I first walked into West U Fitness, I expressed the typical complaints of so many women who are approaching 60 years of age: I was overweight, I had no energy and suffered from lower back pain partly due to arthritis and compressed discs. I had reached a turning point and decided that if my life was going to improve (and it certainly wasn't with age), I would have to take that first step and that "that first step" took me to Angie Henderson, Jermaine Miller and West U Fitness.

Today I can honestly say that I have never felt this good since I was in my twenties. Through healthier eating habits and the superb guidance, encouragement and fitness training from Angie and pilates sessions with Jermaine, I have lost 25 pounds, my pant size has gone from size 12 to size 4 and I'm off my daily doses of Ibuprofen. I wake up every morning feeling energetic, ready to go and so thankful to experience each day pain free. I consider this transformation no less than a miracle.

I know now that "that first step" was one of the most important ones I have ever taken.

First of all, I want to share with you how much I have enjoyed working out at West U Fitness. Your staff is truly excellent, and I admire their dedication to all of us who enter your doors. I also have met some great people in Boot Class. I actually look forward to getting up each morning at 5 am for class. Ben has also been wonderful working with me individually on Tuesdays & Thursdays. I am also one of the many fans from Rice University who are "singing your praises". We all speak very highly of you and your staff.

I also very much enjoy receiving your emails. I find that the tips that you provide are very helpful as are the personal success stories that you share about people.

AND, you have sold me on the Food! I have been purchasing food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner based on your recommendations and have really enjoyed it.

Keep up the great work. I am very appreciative for all that you do.

The routines you have set up for me are already paying off. I was skiing in Colorado last weekend and leg fatigue was not an issue. The best first ski day of the season I can recall.

My golf round Saturday clearly benefited from our workouts. By having a stable platform, the predictability of where my club goes is much higher. Previously, my whole body was flying around, and my club would go lots of places as well.

Ran 3 miles at Rice this A.M., and all is well. If I haven't said this before THANK YOU -- I know the strengthening work we are doing is what is allowing me to run again. I honestly thought my running career was toast. You are the BEST!! :)
